Graphs are diagrams to show results. They are like tables converted into pictures.

Let's take our table from this page and add an extra column

A Bar graph shows relative values.

Pie charts or circle graphs show proportions or percentages

Line graphs show change over time so doesn't fit this example.

You need to think about which type of graph fits your information and problem. Never be afraid to experiment to see how a different type of graph would show the same information. It may simply confirm that you were right, or you might be surprised.
