Fundraising Activities
There are many fundraising activities run through schools, but
here are a few fundraising activities that you can also do independently.
Some activities occur on specific dates while others can be done at a
time that suits you. However, registration is needed for some events, so
check their websites for more details.
- Oxfam Walk Against
Want - Raises awareness and money to help prevent poverty and injustice.
- World's
Greatest Shave - Run by the Leukemia
Foundation to raise funds for research and support programs.
- Loud Shirt Day
- Annual fundraising and awareness campaign for Telethon
Speech & Hearing in WA to help deaf and hearing-impaired children learn
to listen and speak.
- RSPCA Million Paws
Walk - Annual pet walk that promotes responsible pet ownership and raises funds
for the RSPCA.
- Australia's Biggest Morning Tea -
Host a morning tea at anytime during May or June to raise funds for the
Cancer Council.
- Red Nose Day - Run by SIDS and Kids, it raises money and
awareness for sudden and unexpected infant death. Fundraising can be
done all throughout June.
- MS Readathon
- Run by MS Australia.
For any 30 day period in June, July, or August, participants read as many
books, magazines, newspapers, and websites as possible
to raise money for those with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
- Jeans for Genes Day
- Held by national children's charity Jeans
for Genes. The annual event raises funds for children with genetic
disorders. Wear jeans and make a donation.

Cupcake Day for the RSPCA
- Run by the RSPCA.

Daffodil Day
- Run by the Cancer Council, it raises
money for cancer support, information, clinical trials, research, and
much more. Fundraising can be done all throughout August.

RSPCA Happy Tails Day
- Part of the RSPCA Awareness Week. Raises
money for the RSPCA and promotes awareness of animal welfare issues.

World
Vision 40 Hour Famine - To be confirmed 2010 - Raises money
for various international projects to help with food, community
development, and education. Alternatives to fasting for
40 hours (8 hours for those under 12 years of age) include - Turn Off
Technology and Furniture Famine. Can also be done at a different time to
the official weekend.

Legacy Week
- The annual national appeal to raise awareness and funds
for the families of deceased Veterans.

National Bandanna Day -
Run by CanTeen - the Australian Organisation for Young People Living
with Cancer - it raises money for the organisation's support services.
CanTeen's services are for 12 to 24 year olds who are patients, who
have an immediate family member who has been diagnosed with cancer, or
who have had an immediate family member die from cancer.
